Start with the source format
MHTML is a MIME document containing an HTML root and related resources. MHT is another common extension for the same family. It is not an ordinary HTML file with a different name, and ZIP readers do not decode its transfer encodings.
Select a small representative archive first. The tool reads bytes locally, resolves included resources, and creates a new PDF with text and supported images. Keep the source file before using any converted copy.
Choose a portable layout
Web pages can depend on fixed positioning, custom fonts, scripts and dynamic state. The reading-copy export deliberately replaces that presentation with headings, paragraphs and bounded images. It is useful for reading and sharing, but should not be described as a faithful screenshot.
Basic HTML tables appear in the HTML package. The PDF renders cells as numbered rows, allowing long content to wrap without silently losing columns. Check tables whose meaning depends on merged cells or a particular visual arrangement.
Verify the result
Open the PDF in a separate viewer and try selecting a paragraph. Check a heading, a long passage, an accented word and an image. The resource manifest reports unavailable images and all deliberate layout changes.
If a character is outside the PDF font, an explicit Unicode marker appears. Use the HTML or UTF-8 text output for full character coverage instead of treating a marker as the original text.
